Special K is set to kick-start New Year sales in the convenience channel following the announcement of its latest promotion with global athletic footwear and performance apparel brand New Balance.

As part of this campaign, shoppers will be able to claim a New Balance tank top every time they buy two price-marked packs of Special K cereal.

The offer will feature on 10 million promotional boxes from January 2014- March 2014 and will be supported by a £3.4 million media campaign

This will include a new TV advert tag and a host of digital activity on social media including Facebook.

As an added incentive for retailers who sell these packs, they will also be able to apply for special point of sales kits to drive incremental sales at this key time when slimming and fitness is at the forefront of shoppers’ minds.

To claim their top, shoppers will need to visit the My Special K website and enter two batch codes, found on the bottom of each box.

A £2 postage fee applies and codes are redeemable until December, 31 2014.

Suzie Mathewson, trade sector controller at Kellogg’s, said: “This promotion is a fantastic opportunity for our retailers because it’s being launched in January when most people are pledging to get fit and lose weight as part of their New Year's resolutions.

“The tops themselves are also an incredible design for Special K and New Balance so it’s a money can’t buy offer as you won’t find them anywhere else.

“Promotions like these really engage with customers who will be much more likely to make a purchase because of the value of the free top - so it presents a huge sales opportunity for the channel.”
